₦500,000 for three winners in the next Felabration art competition

The organizer of Felabration has announced the call for entries which usually precedes the event. In addition, this year’s edition will reward three artists with a total prize of #500,000 in an artwork competition. The winner gets #250,000, the first runner-up, #150,000, and the second runner-up, #100,000.

Since its inception, the competition has been recognized globally as one of the best events celebrating the next and finest creative talents in the world of arts. This year, 2022, is the sixth time the event will include an artwork celebration. From all indications, it promises to do what’s always been known for — showcasing the brightest talent we have in Nigeria.

As expected, the celebration of arts and their creators will happen at the New Afrika Shrine. The judges to preside are Prince Yemisi Shyllon, Sarah Boulos, and Otunba Mufu Onifade. They are the same experts who selected the winners during the previous year, and all of them are recognized in the art world as masters of this business.

Other activities are arranged for the day. They include the Felabration Afrobics dance competition, the 10th edition of the Secondary Schools Debate, The Symposium also known as the FELA DEBATES, A Fela-themed Fashion show, The Dress Like Fela Day, The Felabration Ladies Webinar, and seven days of Music Concerts featuring Nigerian and International artists.

For those who don’t know, Felabration happens every year to honor the musical legend, the late Fela Anikulapo Kuti. His musical genius as well as his activism is something of praise and admiration. Nevertheless, his brand and sound have influenced many younger artists that came after him. The whole idea of the celebration started in 1998 when the deceased eldest son decided to celebrate his father’s life and times. The event has happened annually since that time except for 1999. So far, it’s been 24 years, and we’re still counting.
